Macon the 1st of November 1811.
Mr. Fonds Lamothe at Limoux
I found a few days ago, upon returning from a trip in our surroundings,
your letters of the 30th of September & 4th of October last. According to your wishes I immediately
looked for the Spanish prisoners gentlemen whom you recommended to me. I
found Mr. de Sanerpleda quite easily, [who has been] for some time in
this town but it was only yesterday that I was able to discover Mr. de Laspayneau
your relative. I had vainly checked all the registers & the one who performs the
duties of pastor, having been here for only a few days he was not yet
listed there, I was despairing of meeting him not believing him to be in
our town. I nevertheless succeeded. I had the pleasure of
seeing him yesterday in very good health. I informed him of your letter & he
promised me to write to you very shortly as well as to his Parents, I
recommended him to my family. I sincerely regret not having been able
to make his acquaintance until the moment of leaving, although our town
offers few resources & that I am now almost as much a stranger there
as he is I would have done my utmost to make his stay
less disagreeable. Mr. de Sanerpleda has received the 120 francs at Mr.
Morin Charles & Pellissier's as well as the letter from his wife.
I am leaving this evening & will travel the itinerary that I
sent you if you have anything to communicate to me please
write to me poste restante at Colmar. or at Strasbourg.
I greet you very sincerely
Chapeaux
