To the gentlemen who are members of the Council of the Civil and Military Hospital of Pontarlier
Jean Baptiste Perrin, an unmarried adult and a soldier returned to his home after discharge from the 19th Light Infantry Regiment, has the honour to submit that, while a soldier, he had the benefit of being treated in this hospital and of observing the good organisation and management of the house;
that he would like to spend the rest of his life there, working, and that I would willingly sacrifice my small fortune.
With this intention he has the honour of addressing the present petition to you, hoping, gentlemen, that you will be kind enough to give me an answer.
I shall let you know the amount of my small fortune. Please ask the Hospitaller Sisters; perhaps they will remember me when they see my name.
Meanwhile, I remain your very humble servant,
