Monsieur Pernod f.t d'absinthe à Pontarlier,

Thonon, February 5, 1860.
Mr. Pernod, absinthe manufacturer in Pontarlier,
We have just received your honored letter of the 31st of last January
and we hasten to reply to it.
When your draft arrived in Thonon, Mr. P. Batise, who
was absent, and since he had not spoken to us about
this order, we had asked the banker to keep it
until his return since it was without costs; the ab-
sence of Mr. P. Batise having been prolonged, it seems
that the banker returned it without speaking to us about it again.
Therefore, Mr. P. Batise, having returned a few days ago, was
quite surprised upon receiving your last letter. Please
therefore draw on us by a sight draft and we will honor
your signature.
Your very devoted
P. Batise brothers
