Monsieur Pernod fils, à Couvet.
Nous Vous Confirmons la lettre que nous avons eu le plaisir de Vous
écrire le 7. Court. (elle) Vous annonçait l'achat, & l'expédition en même
tems, des 3. pces 3/6. que Vous nous aviez demandée, & dont nous Vous remettons
facture, Se muntant à
frs 1190 - 70 c. dont il Sera bien que Vous nous ayez donné Crédit,
Valeur du dit Jour. nous espérons que Cet envoi Vous parviendra en bon
état, & que Vous en Serez Satisfait.
Nous avons encore à Vous annoncer une nouvelle baisse Sur nos liqueurs
Spiritueux. nous ne pouvions la prévoir, tout Comme il est impossible de
prévoir aujourd'huy jusqu'où elle ira. Ce qu'il y a de Certain, C'est
que S'il nous Vient des ordres, nos prix pourront bien Se relever. Si
Vous désiriez prévenir ce mouvement, il Conviendrait que Vous nous donnassiez
quelques ordres, afin de profiter de la période de baisse.
Au der marché de Béziers le Cours du 3/6. dispble fut fixé
à 22 - 75 c. il Se fit environ 60 pces; on donna 22 - 50 c. pour livrer d'ici
à la fin du mois, & il Se traitta 150 à 200 pces livrables en 9bre & xbre
prochain à 22 - 25 - & à 22 - -- à Pézénas il n'y eut pas de Cours
pour le 3/6. dispble livrable à Cette, dont on n'offrit que 21 - 50 c.; on
a fait quelques pces à ce prix, ainsi qu'à 21 - 75 c. il S'est traitté beaucoup
d'affaires pour 9bre & xbre prochains à 22 - -- l'audevie 14 d. 5/6 - 15 - 50 c.
Ici il S'est fait dans la Semaine quelque l'audevie à 13 d. & du 5/6. à
15 - il S'est faitt aussi quelques 3/6. livrables dans la Semaine prochaine
& jusqu'à la fin du mois à 20 - 50 c. on aurait pris pour 9bre & xbre mais
il n'y a pas eu de Vendeurs; 3/6. de Marc 17 - nous Sommes aujourd'huy dans
la même position;
Nos Vendanges Sont à peuprès terminées; nous aurons une récolte ordinaire
& nos Vins Seront délicieux; Ce Serait bien l'année pour faire quelques provisions

Mr. Pernod fils, in Couvet.
We confirm to you the letter that we had the pleasure of writing to you on the 7th of the current month. (It) announced to you the purchase, & the dispatch at the same time, of the 3 pieces of 3/6. that you had requested from us, & of which we remit to you the invoice, amounting to
1190. 70 francs of which it will be good that you have given us credit, value of the said day. We hope that this shipment will reach you in good condition, & that you will be satisfied with it.
We have yet to announce to you a new drop in our spirituous liquors. We could not foresee it, just as it is impossible to foresee today how far it will go. What is certain is that if orders come to us, our prices could well recover. If you wished to forestall this movement, it would be fitting that you give us some orders, in order to profit from the period of decline.
At the last market in Béziers the price of 3/6. available was fixed at 22. 75 c. there were about 60 pieces made; 22. 50 c. was given for delivery between now and the end of the month, & 150 to 200 pieces were traded deliverable in November & December next at 22. 25. & at 22. -- at Pézénas there was no price for 3/6. available deliverable at Cette, of which only 21. 50 c. was offered; a few pieces were made at this price, as well as at 21. 75 c. a lot of business was traded for November & December next at 22. -- brandy 14 d. 5/6. 15. 50 c.
Here there was made during the week some brandy at 13 d. & some 5/6. at 15. -- there were also made some 3/6. deliverable in the coming week & until the end of the month at 20. 50 c. one would have taken for November & December but there were no sellers; 3/6. of Marc 17. -- we are today in the same position;
Our harvests are almost finished; we will have an ordinary crop & our wines will be delicious; It would well be the year to make some provisions

Des motifs de convenance engageant Notre Sieur SERVEL à se retirer des
affaires, nous avons l'honneur de vous prévenir qu'à dater de ce jour,
il cesse de faire partie de notre Maison. Il nous est sans doute pénible de
nous séparer d'un beau-frère et d'un ami avec lequel nous travaillons depuis
25 ans ; mais en mettant un terme à nos liens sociaux, nous n'en restons
pas moins unis par ceux d'une amitié inaltérable.
La retraite de N|S.r SERVEL n'apporte aucun changement dans notre
Maison, qui continuera le même genre d'opérations, et s'occupera, comme
par le passé, de l'exécution des ordres que voudront bien nous confier
nos amis pour l'achat des Vins, Eaux-de-vie, Esprits et de toutes les autres
Productions du Languedoc ; nous réclamons la préférence des vôtres. Nos
établissements de CETTE, de BÉZIERS et de LUNEL nous fournissent les
moyens de les remplir de manière à vous les voir renouveler souvent.

Sir,
Motives of convenience engaging Our Mr. SERVEL to retire from business, we have the honor to inform you that as of this day, he ceases to be part of our House. It is undoubtedly painful for us to separate from a brother-in-law and a friend with whom we have worked for 25 years; but in putting an end to our social ties, we remain no less united by those of an unalterable friendship.
The retirement of Our Mr. SERVEL brings no change to our House, which will continue the same kind of operations, and will occupy itself, as in the past, with the execution of the orders that our friends will kindly entrust to us for the purchase of Wines, Brandies, Spirits and all the other Productions of Languedoc; we claim the preference of yours. Our establishments in CETTE, BÉZIERS and LUNEL provide us with the means to fulfill them in such a way as to see you renew them often.
