Bern, 3 August 1828.

Mr Pernod fils in Couvet,

I have received the four bills with your letter of 15 July. I asked Mr Eller and Haufman to send me the two barrels and the case, but I have not yet received them.
Mr Zimmerman at Walkringen is to pay the 21 francs.
Mr Aeby, the carrier, tells me that he has ordered 12 bottles, but he does not want to keep the others because they are too expensive. I offered that, if he would take them at 15 batz altogether, I would try to arrange it with you, but he wants only the 12 bottles.
Mr Rouff at the Monkey tells me that he will speak with you at Neuchâtel about whether the bill must be sent.
Mr Lang says that the liqueur is not like the sample and that the price is too high for this quality. He offered me 17 per bottle; otherwise they could be taken back. If you wish to reduce it to that price, he will pay immediately.
Sir, if you can lower your prices, I believe you will do more business in our town, because all prices are falling.
Sir,
