To Mr. Gautier the elder
at Cognac
At Orléans, October 3, 1758

Sir,
Following your orders we have given a note
to Mr. Jean Croizy of Romorantin to load
at your place eight to ten tierçons of brandy for Orléans
at the rate of one livre per vette. You can give it to him
in all safety, he is a good carrier. As he
is loaded for Bordeaux he must pass by your place at the new
year to warn you to have it ready for
his return. He left our place on the first of the current month
to go on the 15th of the said month near the fair in Bordeaux.
As soon as this note is presented, I pray you to have the goodness
to give me your news. It is the grace that I hope
from you, hoping that you have arrived in perfect health.
And I am with profound respect,
