to Leith to the insured & to care of Arnold & [Figin?]

Dear Sirs the above is brand
for first vessel. You will please ship
Messrs Watts & Son's 10 Hhds 1849 for first vessel
so as to arrive in London in May - Mr Watts
Junr will accompany me to Paris would it
not be good policy to send him an invoice for
Cognac " I don't think he would venture as
far, has his time would be limited - I go
Metcalfe instructs me to desire that you
will ship his 10 Hhds 1849 direct to Newcastle
upon Tyne for first vessel that may offer for
that port in October I am glad that he has
taken my advice & have his Hhds direct & thus
do away with those repeated unpleasantness
I shall mix with he & France all his cor-
-res pondence & thus prove the statements made

that in the amot of £15 there is freight charged
that he has no right to pay unless it was all'd
in Invoice because the Brandies were sold
by Mr Dupuy (with myself) free on board at
Newcastle but coming to London instead
it is the same thing as if he on board at the
Port of [McCoste?] I explained this to Mr R.
as I thought plain enough. I observe the
Brandies sold Decr 9 - 1849 by Mr Dupuy will
see by his book that this is correct, there was a parcel
of 10 Hhds a parcel of 10 Hhds then he objects to them
of £2 Therein all these matters I shall fully
discuss when I have the pleasure of seeing you
& lay plainly before you what the other London East
does You had not best to touch on this matter
any or it will only create unpleasantness again
my only object in mentioning it is that I am
anxious to remove all impediments that
do exist in the Country to my prosecuting
the advancement of your interests - You have
sent Allen there a French Invoice & this
does not please them unless it is the bill
again please to draw a fresh one at the
order price transmitted you on 4/5 as per
board in London please to draw accordingly
