Monsieur Jn Mᵉ Frachon at Annonay.

I am enclosing the extract from your current account,
settled as of 30 June last, with 2,157 francs 73 centimes in your favour.
Please examine it and tell me whether it is correct.
I am also enclosing Eugène Canson's current account,
settled as of 30 June, with 6,927 francs 73 centimes in my favour,
value as of 30 June last. Please examine it and tell me whether it is correct.
Observe, however, that 618 francs 40 centimes must be deducted from this sum of
6,927 francs 73 centimes. This is the interest, settled as of 30 June,
on my promissory note for 12,368 francs 15 centimes, for which interest I have
credited him anew. Thus Eugène actually owes me only 6,309 francs 33 centimes
at the end of June. Against this sum he has given me his promissory note for
4,522 francs 50 centimes, which I shall send you if you wish, since I am debiting
you for the amount. I shall then make you another promissory note in exchange
for the one you hold for 12,368 francs 15 centimes, from which we shall deduct
the 6,309 francs 33 centimes that he owes me. In this way our accounts would be
reduced to a single promissory note for 6,058 francs 82 centimes.
We have had no news of Eugène.
Laure left yesterday with her husband. She stayed with us for fifteen days,
and her husband for only four or five days.
We are all well. We were pleased to learn that the same is true with you.
Give my regards to François, from whom I have received a letter. I hope he will
come to see us when he can bear the journey.
My wife intends to go to take the waters at Uriage next Monday. Farewell;
I embrace you and all your family.
