Mon Cher ami
J'ai reçu ta bonne lettre, je suis on ne peut
plus sensible a l'interêt que tu nous porte a Louise
et aux vœux de bonne année que tu fais pour
moi et les membres de ma famille, agrée
nos remerciments et notre reconnee reçoie
en meme tems l'assurance de nos sentiments
pour toi ils sont tels que si nos souhaits
se realisoient, il ne vous resteroit rien a desirer
vous jouirié tous d'un bonheur parfait.
Je te felicite de ta santé. n'en abuse
pas, menage toi pour te conserver elle
nous est chere a tous.
J'ai mal fini l'année 1838. J'ai
eprouvé un fort catare qui m'a forcé
a garder la chambre et le lit pendant
plusieurs jours. je vais mieux dans ce
moment depuis avant hier je peux venir
au palais. mais je tousse encore beaucoup.
avec le tems tout cela finira. je n'ai
pas au reste de reproche a me faire
je ne crois pas avoir provoqué cette
indisposition cela arrive sans qu'on s'en doute.

Nîmes this 4 January 1839

My Dear friend
I received your good letter, I am as touched
as possible by the interest that you bear for Louise and us
and by the wishes for a good year that you make for
me and the members of my family, accept
our thanks and our gratitude receive
at the same time the assurance of our sentiments
for you they are such that if our wishes
were realized, you would have nothing left to desire
you would all enjoy perfect happiness.
I congratulate you on your health. do not abuse it
take care of yourself to preserve it it
is dear to all of us.
I finished the year 1838 badly. I
experienced a strong catarrh which forced me
to keep to my room and bed for
several days. I am better at this
moment since the day before yesterday I can come
to the courthouse. but I still cough a lot.
with time all this will end. I have
besides no reproach to make to myself
I do not believe I provoked this
indisposition it happens without one suspecting it.

aux peu d'experience qu'elle a sur l'etat ou

est parfaitemt retablie. si le changement
d'air devoit lui aider a se remettre. je verrois
avec plaisir, qu'elle vint avec sa mere nous
