Mon Cher Oncle et 
bien aimée tante

Dès notre arrivée, qui a eu lieu aujourd'hui 
Je m'empresse de vous donner de nos nouvelles pensant 
avec raison que cela vous fera plaisir.

mon père va bien, il est aujourd'hui à recevoir 
ses honorables concitoyens qui l'ont renommé adjoint
C'est celà qui l'empeche de s'écrire et qui par contrecoup
me procure le plaisir de le faire pour lui.

nous Sommes arrivés ce matin a 8 heures du 
matin tous bien portant.

Je pense que ma lettre vous trouvera tous en 
bonne santé et que mon Oncle éprouvera un mieux sensible
C'est ce que je vous souhaite, pressé par le Courier je 
n'ai que le temps de vous embrasser votre neveu qui v 
aime de tout son cœur

Voiron, 23 October 1840

My Dear Uncle and 
beloved aunt

Since our arrival, which took place today,
I hasten to give you our news, thinking
rightly that this will please you.

My father is well, today he is receiving
his honorable fellow citizens who have re-appointed him deputy
It is this that prevents him from writing and which as a result
gives me the pleasure of doing it for him.

We arrived this morning at 8 o'clock in the
morning all in good health.

I think that my letter will find you all in 
good health and that my Uncle will feel a noticeable improvement
This is what I wish you, pressed by the Courier I
