tient mes écritures, il fait la correspondance Sous ma dictée
car aujourdhui ma main tremble & mes yeux souffrent
quand j'ecris trop longtems.
Comme je crois te l'avoir Dit Je serai bien adressé a
françois mais ceque je lui Destine se cumulera a son
proffit & je te l'adresserai chaque mois si françois ne

Voiron, March 7, 1838

I am taking advantage of a moment of leisure to answer your letter of the 5th inst. I do not know if I will have the time later; Lafumat is still away travelling for thirty or forty days, I am not alone, I have a young man (Mr. Bernard) who keeps my books, he handles the correspondence under my dictation because today my hand is trembling & my eyes hurt when I write too long.
As I believe I told you, I would be well directed to François but what I intend for him will accumulate to his profit & I will send it to you each month if François does not claim it.
I do not remember what is the sum that remained in the hands of Canson & which your mother had the use of, do me the pleasure of telling me & what is the sum that will return to the children of Sylvestre Canson coming from the mother's savings when you know it.
Eugene is in Grenoble, he is very lazy but he is a good boy exempt from negligence, he does not have a bad heart. I am writing to you to urge you to write to his uncle.
I cannot tell you what he has taken because it is Mr. Baratier who gives him money & because I have not settled accounts with them since June 30. I have to his debit

ajourné d'apres cette lettre Renvoye la moi à occasion
J'espere que ton sejours au pre te sera Salutaire, Je
te felicite du mieux que tu eprouves quoique peu Sensible
que ce soit un Reste, [taches?] toi de le bien menager & de
ne le tourmenter de Rien, que tu en trouves une autre
pour me faire une visite avant D'aller à lyon au
pré c'est le plus grand plaisir que tu puisse me faire

Attached is a letter that will confirm to you that Augustine is indeed my goddaughter, it would not seem that the marriage is postponed according to this letter. Send it back to me when you have the opportunity.
I hope that your stay at the meadow will be beneficial to you, I congratulate you on the improvement that you feel although a little insensitive that it is a Remnant, try to manage it well & not to torment it with Anything, that you find another [reason] to pay me a visit before going to Lyon at the meadow it is the greatest pleasure that you can give me. I have a good carriage which we have never used & which comes from Oullins that I will send you when you want.
Bruyère wants me to go to the wedding of the granddaughter, he hurried, he says that he is counting on it so much that everything is preparing to receive us, my wife & Laure, but how to leave if I am alone, if Victor comes at Easter as he says, I told him that we would do our best to go there, but that I could not promise him yet. I will go alone or with Laure if I have the possibility. Laure is a little sick she has lost a lot of weight, she is not vomiting, but has no appetite. Frachon son & his wife from Elisabeth are going there. (at [Viviers?])
I am as worried as you about the account of our Sister Zoé I believe that Frachon is preparing for it [boring?]. God has not left me any hope.
