Voiron, February 7, 1840

My dear brother,

Do me the favor of buying me 12 to 15 pine tree trunks measuring 19 to 20 centimeters squared at the small end and being 6 feet long, that is two meters long.
You had already sent me some which were of great service to me.
They must not be split and they should be young trees, without knots as much as possible but above all very healthy.
You will choose the moment to send them to me when the carter from Annonay to Grenoble will not be loaded and will be able to do this carting cheaply; come to an understanding I pray you with Mignot Montgolfier who had the opportunity to dispatch to me at a low price the last merchandise that he addressed to me last year at the rate of 2 f 50 per 100 kilos.
I ask your pardon for the trouble and urge you that all these pieces of fir tree have exactly the dimension that I indicate to you above and that they be very healthy and without splits, otherwise they could not be of use to me.
