Je Reçois ta Lettre du 29. C.t Toute ma
vie J'ai mieux aime tenire qu'esperer Et c'est
pourquoi Je desirais que tu viens le plutot possible
mais comme tout. ma vie encore J'ai fait ce
qu'il convenait le plus aux autres, Je ne
veux pas te contrarier & puisqu'il est décidé de ne venir qu'après Pâques, j'y souscris
d'autant plus volontiers que nos Dames
trouvent aussi que cela leur convient mieux
aussi. 1°. Parceque Maniquet & Victor Seront
de Retour (maniquet va chez lui & victor va
faire un petit voyage avec lafumat)
2° Parceque les Jours Seront plus long
& moins froid.
3°. Parceque le Sold de [lucon?] Sera plus fort
& leur laissera plus de temps pour être avec
vous, & en fin parceque vs Serez moins
pressés pour le Retour & resterez plus
longtemps avec nous.
que la volonte de Dieu soit faites & la
votre à tous, mais au moins quelque
soient les evénements venez nous voir
un jour fixe & fixés mois ce Jour
invariablement pour que je t'envoye une
voiture à Marcellotte La Veille de votre
arrivée ici a fin que vs. N'ayez qu'a changer
de voiture & puissiez arriver le meme jour

Voiron, 31 March 1840

I received your letter of the 29th inst. All my
life I have preferred to have than to hope and that is
why I desired that you come as soon as possible
but as all my life also I have done that
which best suited others, I do not
want to cross you & since it has been decided that you will come only after Easter, I agree
all the more willingly as our Ladies
also find that it suits them better
too. 1st Because Maniquet & Victor will be
back (Maniquet is going home & victor is going to
take a little trip with lafumat)
2nd Because the days will be longer
& less cold.
3rd Because the [?] will be stronger
& will leave them more time to be with
you, & finally because you will be less
pressed for the return & will stay
longer with us.
Let God's will be done & yours,
yours to all, but at least whatever
the events may be come to see us
on a fixed day & fix this day for me
invariably so that I may send you a
carriage to Marcellotte the eve of your
arrival here so that you will only have to change
carriages & can arrive the same day
of your departure at voiron where we will
be waiting for you for Dinner.
