Je te confirme, mon cher Jean Marie, les lettres de mon fils que tu avais reçues de Vienne, des 9 et 22 mars. [La première confirmait un mandat de 7 000 f; les noms et plusieurs abréviations sont indistincts.] Par la seconde tu me remettais les effets sur Lyon, ensemble 8 200 f, aux échéances des 1er, 10 et 15 mai. [Fin de la phrase comptable indistincte.]

Quant à ce que tu veux me rembourser encore au 1er mai, tu pourras en remettre partie chez mes beaux-frères et le surplus chez M.rs [nom indistinct] frères et fils, pour mon compte particulier. [Dernière instruction de remise indistincte.]

Je désire que tu m'apprennes bientôt que vous êtes rétablis. Il n'y a plus que ma femme et moi qui ne pouvons nous délivrer de cette maudite grippe. Nous allons pourtant bien encore; toutefois nous restons dans nos chambres à cause du temps froid.

Tournon, 30 March 1835

I confirm, my dear Jean Marie, the letters from my son that you had received from Vienne, dated 9 and 22 March. [The first confirmed a draft for 7,000 francs; the names and several abbreviations are indistinct.] By the second you remitted to me bills on Lyon totalling 8,200 francs, falling due on 1, 10 and 15 May. [The end of the accounting sentence is indistinct.]

As for the further amount that you wish to repay me on 1 May, you may remit part of it through my brothers-in-law and the remainder through Messrs [name indistinct] Brothers & Son, for my private account. [The final remittance instruction is indistinct.]

I hope soon to learn that you have recovered. Only my wife and I are still unable to rid ourselves of this wretched influenza. We are nevertheless doing fairly well, but remain in our rooms because of the cold weather.

Our affectionate regards to everyone; I embrace you warmly.
