j'ai reçu mardi ta lettre et son contenu comme je te l'avois dit
dans ma dernière je me suis décidé à partir ce matin 30 et par le batteau
à vapeur de Chalon je serai arrivé à Paris samedi matin. - J'logerai
- je pense à l'hotel des ambassadeurs - dès que j'aurai vu François je
tâcherai pour te donner de ses nouvelles. - Je tâcherai aussi pour t'annoncer
le jour de notre départ et la manière dont nous ferons la route.

English translation

My very dear Father,
I received your letter and its contents on Tuesday as I told you in my last letter. I decided to leave this morning the 30th and by the steamboat from Chalon I will arrive in Paris Saturday morning. I will stay—I think—at the Hôtel des Ambassadeurs; as soon as I have seen François I will try to give you news of him. I will also try to announce to you the day of our departure and the way we will make the journey.
