Ma très chère mère

Malgré le plaisir que j'aurais d'aller passer les fetes avec
vous, je me vois forcé d'y renoncer, Je suis si occupé au
magazin, qu'il y aurait de l'indiscretion de demander à
m'absenter, mais ce qui est différé n'est pas perdu je pense
que je pourrai le faire aux fetes de Pentecôte puisqu'alors
on est beaucoup moins occupé. je recu hier matin une lettre
de vincent qui se porte bien elle est du 29 mars comme
il ne vous dit rien de pressé je vous l'enverrai avec mon linge
que vous recevrez les premiers jours de la semaine prochaine,
Louis Desgrand n'est pas arrivé et n'arrivera pas de sitot, vincent
ne lui a pas remis les graines de choux parcequ'il avait déja
passé, quand il a recu la comission. j'enverrai au père sa
demi mêche sulfurique avec mon linge sale, je suis bien
content qu'il continue à aller un peut mieux, le beau tems
qui se soutient depuis quelques jours doit lui faire du bien
et vous devez regretter de n'être pas déja à la campagne car elle
doit être bien jolie dans ce moment.

My very dear mother

Despite the pleasure I would have had in going to spend the holidays with you, I find myself forced to give it up. I am so busy at the store that it would be an indiscretion to ask to be absent, but what is postponed is not lost I think that I will be able to do it for the Pentecost holidays since then we are much less busy. I received yesterday morning a letter from Vincent who is doing well, it is from March 29 as he tells you nothing urgent I will send it to you with my laundry that you will receive the first days of next week,
Louis Desgrand has not arrived and will not arrive anytime soon, Vincent did not give him the cabbage seeds because he had already passed by when he received the errand. I will send father his half sulfur wick with my dirty laundry, I am very glad that he continues to be a little better, the nice weather which has been lasting for a few days must do him good and you must regret not being already in the country for it must be very pretty at this moment.
