Ma très chère mère
Je suis en possession de ta lettre du 16 courant. que j'attendais
avec impatience je vois que le hasard ne m'a pas servi il faut
espérer que Vincent sera plus heureux que moi je comprends dans
ce moment plus que jamais la reconnaissance que je dois avoir
pour François et l'envie que j'ai de lui être utile à mon
tour : témoigne au père de ma part le plaisir que j'éprouve
en apprenant qu'il va mieux j'espère que le beau temps
contribuera a le rétablir entièrement. J'ai reçu les cent francs
et les provisions annoncées dans ta lettre les saucissons sont
excellents je les trouve meilleurs que ceux de l'année [dernière]
Je suis allé voir Madame Claire Jeudy et j'ai dîné avec
elle dimanche son appartement ne vaut pas celui qu'elle
quitte il est composé de quatre petites pièces dont deux donne
sur une impasse et les 2 autres sur une cour elle le
paye 275 fr par an elle en paraît assez contente. Je suis
allé dimanche passé à Jarnioux avec Thomas Duret - hier
j'ai vu Monsieur Julien Mignot nous avons étés au
théâtre ensemble avec son fils. Tu me donneras des nouvelles
d'Eugène bruyère et de la tante Louise si tu en sais. Vous
m'avez déjà dit quatre ou cinq fois qu'Anne se mariait mais
tu ne m'a pas dit quand c'était, vous devez bien savoir que
l'oncle Vincent a donné sa démission il s'est brouillé avec
monsieur Blanc le maire

My very dear mother
I am in possession of your letter of the 16th of this month. which I was waiting for
with impatience I see that chance has not served me it must
be hoped that Vincent will be more fortunate than me I understand in
this moment more than ever the gratitude that I must have
for François and the desire that I have to be useful to him in my
turn: tell Father on my behalf how pleased I am
to learn that he is better; I hope the fine weather
will help him recover completely. I have received the hundred francs
and the provisions announced in your letter the sausages are
excellent I find them better than those of [last] year
I went to see Madame Claire Jeudy and I dined with
her on Sunday her apartment is not worth the one she
leaves it is composed of four small rooms of which two overlook
a dead end and the 2 others on a courtyard she
pays 275 fr a year for it she seems quite happy with it. I
went last Sunday to Jarnioux with Thomas Duret - yesterday
I saw Monsieur Julien Mignot we went to the
theater together with his son. You will give me news
of Eugène Bruyère and of Aunt Louise if you know any. You
have already told me four or five times that Anne was getting married but
you did not tell me when it was, you must know well that
Uncle Vincent has given his resignation he has quarreled with
Monsieur Blanc the mayor
