nous nous reunissons tous i,ci mon cher ami
du mariage de laure, que tu m'annonce par
ta derniere lettre .. vincent de son Côté m'en a
fait lui même aussi la communiquation
il m'apprend que la noce ce fera le 20 –
de ce mois .
C'est la une belle occasion
pour la famille de se trouver reunis . je
t'avoue que j'ai bien du regret de ne pouvoir
pas mi rendre. ce sont les affaires qui
m'en empechent. et les affaires passés
avant tout . quant on est fonctionnaire public.
tu t'y rendras si tu le peus . ne m'oubliés
pas je t'en prie et compter moi dans vos
reunions comme si j'etois presentes . faittes
moi raison de ma bonne intantion de vous aller
voir .. je m'en dedommagerai a la p[re] occasion, ou
je serai libre.
je te remercie des nouvelles que tu
m'a donné de l'abbé il m'a été penible de
n'avoir pas pû l'embrasser au der[nier] voyage qu'il
a fait . qui sçait quant nous nous reverrons.

Mirmande 10 April 1839.

We all rejoice here, my dear friend, at the marriage of Laure, which you announce in your last letter .. Vincent on his part has also informed me of it himself. He tells me that the wedding will take place on the 20th of this month.
It is a fine opportunity for the family to gather. I confess that I regret very much not being able to go. It is business that prevents me. And business comes first, when one is a public servant.
You will go if you can. Do not forget me, I beg you, and count me in your gatherings as if I were present. Give me credit for my good intention of going to see you .. I will make up for it on the first occasion when I am free.
I thank you for the news you gave me of the abbé. It was painful for me not to have been able to embrace him on the last journey he made. Who knows when we shall see each other again. He resides so far from us.

The whole family here is well. The child is growing visibly. I like to flatter myself that you will all enjoy good health.
