mon cher ami
je presume que vous etes de retour de
votre voyage a voiture et je viens mon
cher ami te demander de vos nouvelles.
j'espere que tu m'apprendras que ta
femme et ta fille se sont bien
trouvez de cette course. je compte
que tu ne veux pas faire de jaloux
Et que par consequent je dois avoir mon
tour pour vous recevoir chez moi Et
avoir le plaisir de la fete que cela
nous procurera ici en famille.
j'ai paye l'effe de 113.f. 05.
que tu as donne Sur moi le mois
d'er.
Gargion et sa femme sont
allés a toulon et a marseille
pendt. la quinzaine de paques.
ils ont été Enchantés de ce voyage
ils sont revenus bien portants

Nîmes, this 9 May 1840
My dear friend,
I presume that you are back from your carriage trip, and I come, my dear friend, to ask for your news. I hope that you will inform me that your wife and your daughter found themselves well from this journey. I count on the fact that you do not want to cause jealousy and that consequently I must have my turn to receive you at my home and to have the pleasure of the celebration that this will bring us here as a family.
I paid the draft of 113 f. 05. that you drew on me last month.
Gargion and his wife went to Toulon and to Marseille during the Easter fortnight. They were delighted with this trip; they returned in good health.

I am in the same state as the last time I wrote to you. Seeing me, one does not suspect my condition; moreover, it is only bothersome, and not painful. I still hope that sweating will make everything disappear. Meanwhile, I get by with work as a pastime.
