Tournon le 20. mai 1839.

Je suis revenu hier matin de Serrières, avec ma femme
nous avons eu le vendredi et samedi, un vent du nord
epouventable qui ne nous a guere permis de sortir. nos
vers a soie ont été mis à la couvée le vendredi.

ta lettre du 19 me retourne, mon cher ami, celle de
M. Boissy qui continue à donner de bonnes nouvelles
de francois; mon fils me l'avoit mandé à Serrières.
hier je reçu une lettre de M. Tavernier, il me confirme
(Lett. du 15) sur françois, tout ce que m'avoit mandé M. Boissy, qu'il
a été bien soigné, que rien ne lui a manqué, qu'il
s'est levé la veille, a repris sa gaité et n'a plus des
inquiétudes qu'il lui avoit temoigné a sa précedente visite
Ensuite Tavernier ajoute, que son gendre M. Eugene
sort de voir francois qu'il a assisté a la visite du medecin
qui a dit que dans 10 jours il pourroit se mettre en route
et avoit à cet effet visé la demande d'un congé de 6 mois
que M. Boissy a promis faire obtenir, Enfin ce dernier
avoit donné des ordres au val de grace pour que francois
fut en tout traité comme un officier. il avoit mangé un
oeuf et un aîle de volaille. ainsi ton fils sera bientot
remis et vous aurès le plaisir de le voir, c'est peut-être le
moment d'ecrire à charles de se tenir pret a partir
pour paris, au premier avis que nous recevrons
que francois peut sans inconvenient, se mettre en route.
mon fils et moi chercherons de rencontrer M. forney
pour le remercier de tous les soins et attentions de son
fils pour francois, ce que d'ailleurs il pourra faire lui même
quand il viendra nous voir.

adieu mon bon ami, je vous embrasse tous et pour
tous les miens.

Tournon the 20. May 1839.

I returned yesterday morning from Serrières, with my wife
we had on Friday and Saturday, a north wind
terrible which hardly allowed us to go out. our
silkworms were set to incubate on Friday.

your letter of the 19th returns me, my dear friend, that of
Mr. Boissy who continues to give good news
of francois; my son had sent it to me in Serrières.
yesterday I received a letter from Mr. Tavernier, he confirms to me
(Lett. of the 15th) about françois, all that Mr. Boissy had told me, that he
was well cared for, that he lacked nothing, that he
got up the day before, has regained his cheerfulness and no longer has
worries that he had shown him on his previous visit
Then Tavernier adds, that his son-in-law Mr. Eugene
has just seen francois that he attended the doctor's visit
who said that in 10 days he could hit the road
and had for this purpose endorsed the application for a 6 months leave
that Mr. Boissy promised to get, Finally the latter
had given orders to the val de grace so that francois
would be treated in everything like an officer. he had eaten an
egg and a wing of poultry. so your son will soon be
recovered and you will have the pleasure of seeing him, it is perhaps the
moment to write to charles to get ready to leave
for paris, at the first notice that we receive
that francois can without inconvenience, hit the road.
my son and I will try to meet Mr. forney
to thank him for all the care and attention of his
son for francois, which besides he can do himself
when he comes to see us.

all mine.
