ta lettre d'hier, mon cher jean marie, me donne de bonnes
nouvelles de toute ta famille, nous nous sommes surtout
bien rejouis en apprenant que ma niece marianne
etait mieux et avoit pû aller promener aujoudhui.
temoigne lui et à son pere tout le plaisir que
nous en eprouvons, et l'espoir que le beau temps
contribuera à ameliorer sa santé.
Le même courrier m'a aussi apporté une lettre
de ton fils françois, en date du 9, il est bien portant
et paroit toujours bien content. son régiment doit
quitter saumur le 1er juin pour se rendre
à Beaupréau même dept. rien de nouveau pour
pour son avancement.
j'ai aussi une lettre de vincent qui vous attend
vers le milieu de la semaine prochaine il me parle
de l'affaire des h.rs Devrand, qui paroît s'arranger
à la satisfaction des creanciers.
me voilà depuis fort cloué dans la chambre.
vendredi dernier etant dans le salon je me suis
foulé le pied gauche et tombé fort lourdement
sur le sopha. la douleur fut très vive et j'ai bien
souffert les deux premiers jours, maintenant je vais
mieux, je marche à l'aide d'un bras, mais on me
recommande le repos.

Tournon 15 April 1840.

Your letter of yesterday, my dear Jean Marie, gives me good news of all your family, we especially rejoiced to learn that my niece Marianne was better and had been able to go for a walk today. Tell her and her father how much pleasure we feel from this, and the hope that the beautiful weather will contribute to improving her health.
The same mail also brought me a letter from your son François, dated the 9th, he is in good health and seems always very happy. His regiment is to leave Saumur on June 1st to go to Beaupréau, same department. Nothing new about his promotion.
I also have a letter from Vincent who expects you towards the middle of next week he speaks to me of the affair of the Devrand heirs, which seems to be settling to the satisfaction of the creditors.
Here I am since strictly nailed in the room. Last Friday being in the living room I sprained my left foot and fell very heavily on the sofa. The pain was very sharp and I suffered a lot the first two days, now I am better, I walk with the help of an arm, but I am recommended to rest.
