Et j'y ai lu avec bien du plaisir que tu etois moins
souffrant. par le tems qu'il a fait, C'est deja gagné
quelque Chose. il faut Croire que la rigueur de la saison
toujours Contraire aux malades Cessant, ta Sante
s'ameliorera Entierement. c'est L'espoir de tous mes
voeux. en attendant, menage toi bien, et ne sors
de Chez toi qu'autans qu'il fera Beau.
Je te remercie de m'avoir donne des nouvelles de
ton fils. il est bien qu'il ne S'ennuie pas de son Etat.
Et s'il Continue a S'y plaire, il peut y faire un
Chemin comme dans un autre. quant tu lui
Ecrira rappelle moi je te prie a son Souvenir. s'il

Nîmes this 10 February 1838.
I received in time, my dear friend, the letter of the 3rd of this month. And I read there with much pleasure that you were suffering less. With the weather we have had, that is already something gained. We must believe that the severity of the season always contrary to the sick ceasing, your health will improve entirely. It is the hope of all my wishes. In the meantime, take good care of yourself, and do not go out of your house except when the weather is fine.
I thank you for giving me news of your son. It is good that he does not grow weary of his condition. And if he continues to like it, he can make a path there like in another. When you write to him, please recall me to his memory. If he changes garrison I would have much pleasure if his regiment were in Nîmes. I would see him every day.
Give my compliments to our nephew Louis. Tell him that I would have much satisfaction if he paid me a visit, that I dare not ask him, it would be wanting to deprive his mother of all the time of stay that he can give her. But that if he passed very close to Nîmes to go to his future destination, and that he did not come to Nîmes I would experience a deep sorrow.
I enjoy the best health. I have crossed through the winter so far without being seriously inconvenienced by it. I have indeed coughed sometimes, but I have constantly fulfilled the obligations of my position. I have not missed a single

To the letter was joined a note that my sister Vialard had consented to me, a note that I had left her. It is a piece that I am very glad has returned to me, although my intention is not to get myself paid for it.
They present to me today the draft that you have drawn on me for 334 fr 75 c. I will pay it tomorrow.
By means of this payment, all our accounts are settled in balance up to this day. In accordance with the settlement that you made of them by your above-mentioned letter of January 3.
I will always be very grateful for the trouble that I give you to pay the pension of Madame widow Abrial. If that tires you too much my dear friend, we could charge our nephew Mathieu to fulfill this commission.
