Mon très cher père

Depuis longtemps Je n'ai pas reçu de
lettre de vous pourtant je vous ai écrit
deux fois, quelles sont donc les raisons qui
vous empêchent de m'écrire, seriez vous
malades ou en route. Ecrivez moi pour
que je sache ce qu'il en est. J'ose espérer
que ce n'est pas la maladie qui vous empêche
de m'écrire mais bien les occupations de
mon père, un mot et je serai tranquilisé
et Surtout la vérité

Je continue à bien me porter
et ai toujours bonne espérance, plus tard nous
verrons ce qui arrivera

Saumur, February 24, 1840

My very dear father

For a long time I have not received a letter from you, yet I have written to you twice. What then are the reasons that prevent you from writing to me? Could you be ill or on the road? Write to me so that I know what is going on. I dare to hope that it is not illness that prevents you from writing to me, but rather my father's occupations; a word and I will be reassured, and above all the truth.

I continue to be well and always have good hope, later we will see what happens.
