Je t'aurai ecris hier mais hier en arrivant
j'eus cinquante courses d'ici et de là chez
le sous intendant, Tresorier au magazin
d'où je ne pus me tirer qu'au moment
de partir pour ici ou je suis arrivé ce
matin en bonne Santé et n'ayant que
le regret de vous avoir quitté
Je pense que vous vous portez bien
et que mon frère et ma Soeur n'ont pas
été fatigués ainsi que ma tante
Comme je vous le disais, je me porte bien
mon oreille est entierement cicatrisée
On m'a fait ici un accueil auquel je

My dear father,
I arrived yesterday morning in Angers at 4 o'clock and found the company leaving for Saumur where we are quartered in an old fort that dominates the whole town. I would have written to you yesterday but yesterday upon arriving I had fifty errands here and there to the sub-intendant, Treasurer at the storehouse, from which I could only extricate myself at the moment of leaving for here, where I arrived this morning in good health, having only the regret of having left you. I think that you are doing well and that my brother and my sister were not tired, as well as my aunt. As I was telling you, I am doing well, my ear is completely healed. I received a welcome here that I did not expect, from the soldiers up to the officers.
