Spero che avrai ricevuto una mia appena scritta l'ulti-
ma tua e che mi esaudirai in tutto che ti dissi ora avvici-
nandosi le S. S. Fest. Nat. tu lo sai sono giorni di letizia
ed anche di doni, quindi vengo con questa mia con tutta li-
bertà perchè so con chi ho a che fare, vengo a chiederti
una carità col patto però che l'abbi ad eseguire in quel
giorno che sei in libertà e che ti senti propriamente
bene, che non abbi a soffrire menomamente in salute.
Desidererei che mi comprassi tutto quanto troverai nota-
to e specificato in questa cartolina e di più N.o 4 fogli d'im-
magini simile al campione tranne del significato sia pur
esso variato nella impronta. N.o 4 altre immagini di Santi
di carta lucida della medesima grandezza 1 di questi sia verde
1 Rosso 1 Celeste e l'altra di quel colore che più ti
aggrada il tutto di poca spesa. Perdonami se sono troppo
indiscreta ma che vuoi i doni bisogna farli denari non
convengono al nostro stato di povertà quindi suppliremo con
oggetti di Monache cioè Religiosi immagini ecc. Ho pure
[crossed out: Ho] licenza di mettere fuori la scarpa anch' io con voi
altre quindi lascio a te l'incarico di mettermela fuori
al Padre Somazzi. Giovanna Sanguettola di salute stà bene

Dear Linda B. d. V., 3 December 1857

I hope that you have received a letter of mine, written as soon as your last one arrived, and that you will grant me everything I asked of you. Now, with the holy Christmas festivities approaching—you know they are days of joy and also of gifts—I write this with complete freedom, because I know whom I am dealing with, to ask you a kindness, on condition, however, that you carry it out on a day when you are free and feel entirely well, so that you suffer not the slightest harm to your health.

I would like you to buy for me everything that you will find noted and specified on this little card, and in addition four sheets of images similar to the sample except in subject, even if the impression is different. Four other images of saints on glazed paper of the same size: one of these should be green, one red, one light blue, and the other whatever colour pleases you most, all at little expense. Forgive me if I am too indiscreet, but what can you do? Gifts must be given; money is not suitable for our state of poverty, so we shall make up for it with things made by nuns, that is, religious images, etc. I also have [crossed out: I have] permission to put my shoe out together with the rest of you, so I leave it to you to put it out for me at Father Somazzi's. Giovanna Sanguettola is in good health; I hope the same of you and the whole family. Happy holidays, and in the Most Holy Hearts of Jesus and Mary I declare myself yours,
