Sono giustissime le tue dolci lagnanze con me, p il mio lu
ngo silenzio, ed ora intendo con questa mia di scontare ogni
debito con te incontrato; ma, mia cara Linda, se tacqui con
te, non però ommisi di alzar il mio cuore, al buon mise
ricordioso Iddio che tante benedizioni spanda sopra la
tua famiglia, e segnatamente della florida salute, che
gode il cariss.mo ns Papà, come intesi anche da vari
incontri. Oh! si, ne sia sempre ringraziato e benedetto
il buon Dio de' suoi doni; del resto la mia salute è
buona, e pciò non ti prendere tanta premura a mio ri
= guardo. La Misericordia di Dio è grande sopra di me!!
La visita che ebbi del P. Antonio mi è stata graditissima
Egli con ciò mi diede prova non equivoca della sua
fratellevole dilezione ; Da Esso la mia cara Sorella M.a
Carolina avrà ricevuto la Circolare di questa mia R.ma
Madre che gliela mandò con tanto suo piacere, ed an

My dear Sister
From my monastery in Tortona
9 May 1857

Your sweet complaints towards me for my long silence are very just, and now I intend with this letter of mine to settle every debt incurred with you; but, my dear Linda, if I kept silent with you, I did not, however, omit to raise my heart to the good, merciful God so that He might pour many blessings upon your family, and especially for the flourishing health that our dearest Papa enjoys, as I have also heard from various encounters. Oh! yes, may the good God always be thanked and blessed for His gifts; for the rest, my health is good, and therefore do not worry so much on my account. The Mercy of God is great upon me!! The visit I received from Father Antonio was very pleasing to me. With it, he gave me an unequivocal proof of his brotherly affection; from him, my dear Sister Maria Carolina will have received the circular of this Most Reverend Mother of mine, who sent it to her with so much of her pleasure, and also the Very Reverend Father Confessor took two of them after the one from Pistoia to have this one given to her as well. I hope it will be appreciated by her, since for a long time she has shown me her pleasure for it. I rejoice very much, my dear, upon the return from your journey,

e di tutti ancora per grande soddisfazione d' aver passato
alcuni giorni in compagnia della cariss. S. M.a Fedele
Essa spero che si troverà in buona salute; malgrado le
ristrettezze del Luogo in cui si trova, ma ne sono persua
= sa che Iddio non mancherà d' inondarla con maggior abbon
danza delle sue grazie, come ho di già inteso benissimo.
Mia cara Linda, siamo nel mese consacrato a Maria, e
qui m' immagino che ancora costì in famiglia si
ossequierà in modo speciale, del che te ne raccoman
= do tanto, poiché Ella è la ns. amorosissima Madre ed il
vero canale, p cui riceviamo tutte le grazie !!
Ora chiudo questa mia col pregarti di raccomandare in
modo speciale al Divin Cuore questa amatissima
Comunità trovandosi vicina all' epoca dolorosa della
deposizione della ns Degna Madre, ma che tuttavia vi si sot

which I flatter myself will have been happy and to the great satisfaction of everyone for having spent a few days in the company of dearest Sister Maria Fedele. I hope that she will find herself in good health, despite the restrictions of the place where she is located, but I am persuaded that God will not fail to flood her with a greater abundance of His graces, as I have already heard very well. My dear Linda, we are in the month dedicated to Mary, and here I imagine that there in the family as well she will be honored in a special way, which I highly recommend to you, since She is our most loving Mother and the true channel through which we receive all graces!! Now I close this letter of mine by begging you to recommend this beloved Community in a special way to the Divine Heart, finding itself near the painful period of the deposition of our Worthy Mother, but to which we nevertheless submit, because it is a Law dictated by our Holy Founders. In this Heart I leave you, begging you to remember me in your fervent Prayers which, from your usual charity, I hope will be reciprocated.
