Nismes 24 Xbre 1841.
Mon cher oncle,
j'ai pu à la fin voir M. Teulon et l'entretenir
de l'affaire de votre pension de retraite. Il a été surpris,
comme moi, de la nouvelle tracasserie qui vous est suscitée
par la commune de Lyon, mais il pense que vous en aurez
justice. J'ai trouvé chez lui le même empressement de
vous servir et je compte qu'il ne négligera rien pour
faire lever promptement ce dernier obstacle. Il est en
relation d'amitié avec plusieurs membres du conseil d'état
et dans le cas où il ne serait pas aussi lié avec
le conseiller chargé du rapport, il m'a bien promis de
le voir lui-même, comme député, et de lui faire parler
ou vous recommander par des connaissances. L'essentiel,
m'a-t-il dit, est de prier M. [Béchard?] de presser
l'instruction et dès que le rapporteur sera nommé de le
lui désigner pour qu'il puisse commencer ses démarches.
M. Teulon ne sera à Paris que dans une quinzaine
parce qu'il doit s'arrêter en route, mais il m'a engagé
à lui écrire aussitôt que nous [aurions?] quelque chose
de positif sur la distribution du pourvoi.
Nos affectueuses civilités à ma cousine ; je vous embrasse.

English translation
Nîmes, 24 December 1841.
My dear uncle,
At last I was able to see M. Teulon and speak to him about your retirement pension. Like me, he was surprised by the new difficulty raised against you by the municipality of Lyon, but he thinks you will obtain justice. I found him just as eager to help you, and I expect he will leave nothing undone to have this last obstacle promptly removed. He is on friendly terms with several members of the Council of State; if he is not as close to the councillor in charge of the report, he expressly promised to see him himself, as a deputy, and to have acquaintances speak to him or recommend you. The essential thing, he told me, is to ask M. [Béchard?] to expedite the proceedings and, as soon as the reporting councillor has been appointed, to tell Teulon who it is so that he can begin his approaches.
M. Teulon will not be in Paris for about a fortnight, because he must stop on the way, but he urged me to write to him as soon as we [had?] definite information about the assignment of the appeal.
Our affectionate regards to my cousin; I embrace you.
