Esteemed Mr Samuele Finzi
Ferrara Senigallia, 13 August 1851.

To settle all our difficulties amicably over the two bales of [sole leather?] you bought here, you will find the enclosed document duly accepted by me for the sum of [currency sign] [blank] in metallic currency. Thus I shall bear the loss in weight of 17 [pounds?]. Under our agreement you will credit me with 1.50 on your invoice. Believe me, this was a loss in the goods, a justified loss whose cause I cannot determine. I swear this to you on my honour, and I wish to believe that you will reflect fairly on the whole matter.
Please let me know about all this. With my esteem, I send you my respects.
