From your kind letter of the 27th of this month, I learn [the verb concerning receipt is unclear] of the two sacks of ground [sorghum?] that I sent you as a sample. I hear that you do not like its quality and that you consider it to be from the old harvest. This is not so: not only had I previously exhausted my stock of the old crop, but I had to obtain some from friends to last until the new harvest. If you find it [the first complaint is unclear] and with a piece of mould, I tell you that the first comes from its being too [young?; a word is deleted]. As for the second, I agree that it may be so in what you received [the following clause concerning its price and sorghum in grain is unclear]. As for the [sorghum?] flour, [the connecting words are unclear] I can give you grounds to expect a quantity this year of a quality as good as last year's, if not better. [The words introducing the dispatch are unclear] to send you two sacks at the first opportunity for your guidance, after which I am sure that you will favour me with your valued orders. With esteem, I remain respectfully yours.
