Bologna, 5 May 1858.
Your esteemed letter of the 2nd [abbreviation]. By this time the carrier Tagliavini must have presented the sack in question to you. If you wish, you may retain it in exchange for the one that you [illegible] [with Cremore?]. Having ₤ 29.61 [uncertain abbreviation] available with Messrs Finzi and [Camerani?], I enclose a draft on them for that sum, which you will collect on account of the goods you sent me. I shall arrange for the remaining ₤ 2.39 to reach you at the first opportunity to settle the balance, unless you can recover it from me in some way, or indicate someone to whom I can pay it. I should welcome an acknowledgment of receipt. Meanwhile, I remain respectfully yours,

On account of it you remit a draft on G.[illegible] Finzi [illegible] for ₤ 29:61; you will be credited with it upon collection. As for the ₤ 2:39 which [illegible] remain as the balance, please remit them [deleted:with all the...], at my convenience, when you have funds available here. Having [illegible] the sack mentioned by Tagliavini, I shall retain it in exchange for my [illegible].
