To CESARE MONARI
Leather merchant near the Caffè da S. Pietro
For the following goods sold to him and delivered to the carrier Turra
Payable
BOLOGNA, 14 July 1860.
Lithography: De Maria
No. 1. Dozen calfskins [qualifier uncertain] and foli [term uncertain] £20:20.
In reply to your esteemed letter of the 12th of this month, I have sent you the eight pairs of the aforesaid calfskins and entered them at £20:20, which is the best I can do, as [name uncertain] also paid me [reading uncertain], and our [reading uncertain] manufacturer, of whom [reading uncertain].
As for the three bales of black saddlery leather in domestic hides below £20, I have made a selection and have only been able to assemble twelve pieces of the weight you requested. I shall therefore send them to you during the coming week. I now have twenty pieces of the usual Coramini in production, of [foreign?] hides: ten weighing 10 [weight sign] and ten weighing 14 [weight sign]. Taking both weights, I can offer you £24 per q.le, since the goods are well worked.
That is all for now. Awaiting your orders, with all esteem I offer my respects.
Cesare Monari
P.S.
I should appreciate it if by the end of the month you could send me, or give me an order for payment of, about £160. Alternatively, if it is more convenient for you, I could draw a small draft on you. Excuse us, and again I send my greetings.
C. Monari
