Voiron, March 15, 1839

Although I have nothing in particular to tell you, I feel I should write to you to encourage you to give me your news and to give you mine. I am still out of sorts, I am not cured, but no longer worry about it. I have almost constantly a pain at the bottom of the ribs on the right side. However, nothing is felt to the touch, it is undoubtedly the liver that is sick, without however giving me bad temper as usually happens, but what do you expect, I am no longer young, one must accept it and laugh about it for regrets only increase the illness. Yesterday, in fine weather, I went to [Borard?], I found the walk a bit long

English translation

I take baths and eat well; I play my game every evening, I sleep well, with that one can go far. As I told you at the time, I sent François a small draft on Paris, I sent him the rest of what I owed him, I do not know if I misaddressed my letter, but I have no news from him, ask him if he received my letter. Goodbye my children, my wife and the [Margots?] [closing phrase illegible], we embrace you all. Frachon Dugas

When you have an opportunity, send me a few pounds of chocolate in tablets.
