Voiron, 22 July 1839

Monsieur Jn Mᵉ Frachon in Annonay

I have credited your account by 9 fr. 46 c. for a calculation error in the interest, as you point out in your letter of the 18th of the current month.
As for Eugène Canson's account, we are in complete agreement; I remain owing him 6,058 fr. 82 c., value as of 30 June 1839, for which I send you today my promissory note payable with interest at 5% per annum six months after his demand.
I also send you Eugène Canson's promissory note of 4,522 fr. 50 due on 31 [month abbreviation unclear] next, which was included in the settlement of the account settled as of 30 June last and for which I find myself reimbursed by the said settlement.
No news of Eugene; Edouard was asked for payment of a few accounts that Eugene owes and which may amount together to five to six hundred francs. Edouard did not pay them, as you can well imagine; Eugene must acknowledge them first.
Marie and Edouard say that their children are doing well. My wife is at Uriage; Victor went to see her yesterday, I think he will bring me news of her today, she was doing well.
I debit your account by 120 fr. that your son Vincent received for me and I credit him for it; I have been so busy that I am very late in answering him.
I learn with pleasure that you are all doing well despite the heat; it is no less here, we are experiencing the drought like you, we no longer work at night at the machine; are your factories shut down?

Madame Faure-Beylier is pregnant, she is not doing badly.
I hope that on his return from Aix, Thomas will pass through Voiron; I would really like him to spend a few days with us.
As soon as François is well enough, I think he will come to see us; I would like it to be only upon my wife's return; if you could all accompany him, you would give me great pleasure.
Farewell, dear brother, farewell, my dear sister,
I embrace you as well as your children and send you friendly greetings.
Frachon Dugas

My regards to Étienne and to the whole family.
Is there any news of Louis? He has not answered me regarding the visit that I had asked him to make to [my?] property in Algiers.
