Voiron, 24 November 1840

My dear brother,

Your last letter gave me great pleasure. First, it tells me that you are better, and it brings me good news of your children. I congratulate you warmly on Vincent's conduct. His letter to Mr Pallaud in Paris gave me great pleasure. I hope he will enter that house. Please keep me informed of what happens.

I had written to Fourel about him; I have not yet had an answer. I return enclosed Vincent's letter, as well as that of Mme Kock, which I did not send to Mme Mante. I am very glad of this, because I see that today they have refused your son, whom they seemed eager to receive, because I told them that he was being offered a position in Warsaw with [1,800?] francs in salary, board and lodging.

We are all doing tolerably well and, like you, long for [better] weather. Not a day passes without rain, sometimes for twenty-four hours without stopping.

Farewell; we embrace you all.
Frachon Dugas

Did you have much wine? Is it good?
Were you able to store it all in barrels?
