Tournon, 26 April 1839

Here you are anxious again, my dear Jean Marie, on hearing of Germain's illness. It is unfortunate that he went fifteen days without telling you; by having him given the care he needed, it might have been prevented. Mr Fornet and [Eugᵉ?] [surname illegible] will no doubt see him, and I hope you will soon have reassuring news. Do not worry about his stay in hospital: the sick are well cared for and well treated there by the regiment's surgeon. Please pass on his news to me whenever you receive any.

Vincent has been doubly saddened by the mishap which deprives him of your visit. He had told me how pleased he would be to have you at the wedding. My son, Fanni and the children were to leave Lyon yesterday at two o'clock, to arrive this morning at [eight?] in Voiron. We shall surely have them back the day after tomorrow. In her letter of the 22nd, my daughter-in-law said that Guerrier had just gone to see [Chante?], who was to come and dine with [her?] the following day.

We are well and embrace you all.
