Tournon, 2 May 1839

Since your letter of the 27th, in which you tell me about the one you had received from Mr [Gerey?], I have had a more reassuring letter from my nephew Étienne about Germain, whom Mr [Mᵉ?] Fornet had gone to visit. He had found him better, well cared for and especially commended to the hospital attendants. You may therefore count on his lacking no care, and on those around him paying attention to the recommendations of people who visit him and take an interest in him.

Mr [Mᵉ?] Fornet is the only person to whom I could have written, had you not told me that my nephew Laurent had done so. I do not know anyone in Paris to whom I could have commended your son. I am sure Mr Fornet will see him often, and I ask you to share all the news you receive with me.

My son arrived yesterday evening. He had left Voiron the previous day, an hour after the wedding party, which went that same day to the

country house of Mr Maniquet, passing through Lyon and Rive-de-Giers. Vincent, his wife and their son Victor accompanied the newlyweds. There were many people at the wedding; everything went well.

My son, his wife and their two children went to Grenoble on Tuesday, where they took the stagecoach yesterday morning as far as Romans, where I sent someone to fetch them.

Your son François was in good health. My children could not see him as often as they would have wished, so many errands did they have to run.

I am at last expecting Étienne, who I hope will give me news of François.

I embrace you all, also on behalf of all my family.
