Tournon, 14 June 1839

My dear friend, I still have no news of our fugitives, the strolling players. Vincent [verb illegible] that the person whom the director of the actors in Grenoble had sent in pursuit of them has returned from Marseille, where he did not find them, and that he has left with the King's prosecutor and the police commissioner of that latter town the order to have them arrested.

They surely did not remain in Lyon, where friends [would have found them?]. Perhaps they have gone to Paris, or rather to Switzerland. It would be advisable to write to both places to prevent money being handed to Eugène. [Interlinear addition illegible] Mr [initials illegible] Canson has already written to [Berny?] frères and Mr [Forel?] to warn them.

Has anyone been sent to Vienne, or has someone gone to Grenoble about the petition to be presented to the court in order to obtain the order appointing a judicial adviser?

If François has been able to continue his journey without being tired by it, you will have the pleasure of embracing him tomorrow. I trust you will let me know.

I embrace you all.

Our silkworms at Olivet are still doing well. They are expected to climb up to spin their cocoons on Sunday.
