Honourable Samuele B.to Finzi d. Magrini
Faenza, 26 January 1861.
In prompt reply to your letter of the 14th of this month: as for the lot of foreign horsehides which I mentioned in my last letter, I have kept them for [three months?] [uncertain words], and only at the beginning of next week shall I start having them worked. I am certain that they will be among the finest and best that could be desired, weighing about eight to nine pounds each without [the head?] and half the leg. I shall supply you with [half-hides?: wording uncertain]. If you want stamped sole leather in folded form, made entirely from domestic hides [or horsehides?: wording uncertain], it will be perfectly dry. As for the price of the horsehides, the very lowest is £110 per hundred, Bologna weight, without discount, free on the cart at Faenza; the sole leather is £115 per hundred of the same weight, likewise without discount and free on the cart, as with the horsehides. The price is [short adjustment wording unclear] the increase in [bollette?; term retained], where I had indicated [uncertain word]. [Uncertain subject] is bought at £8 per hundred. For the horsehides I have quoted you the lowest price; [short linking words unclear] you take eight or ten [unit and short following phrase unclear]. Otherwise I cannot let you have the horsehides alone for less than one [baj...?; abbreviation unclear] [short abbreviation unclear] per [ounce?], Bologna weight. For thin material I could supply you next March. Awaiting your reply, I greet you.
Giov. Poletti.
