Forlì, 22 May 1854.
In reply to yours of 17 May, there is no need to repeat what [reading uncertain] recalls concerning the settlement of the invoice drawn for £13.44, in settlement of the account through 30 December last. I hear that you are well supplied with calfskins; nevertheless, if you would not object to this, I shall soon take the liberty of sending you a few skins as samples of each quality, being quite persuaded that the white and the matt black ones would not have displeased you. If you wish, I shall do so on another occasion. Now it only remains for me to inform you that, as early as Saturday the 20th, [reading uncertain], I dispatched by the usual carrier Granellini only the promised five dozen goatskins. I hope you will be entirely satisfied with them and will therefore kindly credit me with their amount of £31.77. Awaiting your acknowledgment of receipt and further orders, I send you my greetings [uncertain abbreviation].
For the firm [uncertain initials] Vignoli
G. Vignoli
No. 60 black goatskins, weight 88.03 [pounds and ounces], at 36 bajocchi: £31.77.
P.S. The skins were sold here to a tanner from another town, and I have not yet been able to learn the price paid for them; [reading uncertain] tell me about it.
