English translation

Paris, [4/1?] May 1831.

I have received your letter of yesterday.
I have settled with [Chaulet?].
I have just agreed with Mr Rodier of the bank that I shall remit to him as the bills fall due, instead of combining them at a common maturity.
You will therefore remit to him every five days a draft on the Treasury on stamped paper, payable at ninety days, for the amount of the bills that have fallen due. Make your first remittance on the 6th and the second on the 11th, and so on. I shall have an interest account at five francs per hundred, which will carry the one-third to my credit and which I shall settle at the end with this balancing amount.
I see [Guet?’s] [payment?] of 850 francs.
You are remitting 36,000 francs to me on [two words crossed out] [Dourfaut?]. I shall make this remittance in the next few days. Yes, he will remit a further 38,000 francs to you.
I see your dispatch no.63.
I cannot reply to the rest today.
A thousand kind regards.
[paraph]

Notes

Documentary annotation: a? [underlined at the upper left]
The day and three surnames remain locally uncertain. The abbreviated word before the 850-franc entry is provisionally read as a payment. Two crossed-out words precede the provisional name Dourfaut. The notation 1/3 identifies a credit on the interest account without stating its basis in this sentence. A deduction of one-third per cent is recorded separately in NRA-L-000870.
