Paris 2 Mai 1831.

Paris, 2 May 1831.
I have received your letter of yesterday.
I hope that my Sunday letter reached you sooner by the Laffitte diligence.
I do not have my papers here (I am writing to you from the Syndicate), but I think you have the correct dates. However, as for the last date, [word undeciphered] tomorrow; so if you still have any doubt in this respect, postpone [closing?] the Moreau account.
I regret that you did not confine yourself to telling Mr [Stabler?] simply [crossed-out word] that you were awaiting a letter from me concerning his request, as you could not undertake to do anything without my authorization, unless you thought you should do so on the basis of a letter that is to establish that I [was to?] have securities available for the remainder, but that he had none at the moment. I shall not leave him in difficulty and shall have 35,000 francs remitted to him in the meantime. I shall await his reply before writing to you. I am somewhat inclined to authorize you to make up the 75,000 francs he needs. I shall reach an understanding with him about the equivalent value. You understand that I cannot leave him in difficulty. Besides, he is in a very good position, but he should have written to me about it a little sooner.
I see the [designation and name uncertain], who is an energetic man, and [I am?] very glad to know him.
A thousand kind regards, [Henry?]

Notes
Documentary annotation: [small undeciphered mark or paraph at upper left] The 35,000 francs are to be remitted in the meantime. Making up the 75,000 francs is a possible further authorization, not an already issued instruction. One word before “tomorrow” in the opening remains unread; the subsequent conditional instruction concerning the Moreau account is restored, with its uncertain infinitive marked. Individual names and the form devois/devrois remain qualified. The left-margin list is transcribed once.
