English translation

Paris, 22 April 1831.

Debit petty cash with 11 francs, which you will give to Mme [Gillet?] to distribute as directed in the enclosed note.
Send Mr Roy of Dieppe the small [Girard?] payment order for 1,900 francs, asking him to take particular care over its collection; for which I shall be [crossed out: particularly] obliged to him.
I am returning the receipt [Beaumarch…?]. It is by mistake that you have entered it at only 2,443.46; it is indeed for 12,442.46. The preceding one must be in the [November?] bundle [one word crossed out].
I no longer hear anything about Moreau’s affair with the town, nor that of poor Demange. Tell [him?] something about it … [sentence breaks off].
I have received your letter of yesterday.
The four shares which, as you rightly observe, are still missing from my [saltworks?] holdings are in Schneider’s hands (he ought to take them). You will debit them with 1,072 francs for the interest on the shares.
I am awaiting payment from Grins.
I have handed your letter to Chaulet.
I see dispatch No. 53. I continue to be surprised at the shortage of cash, since I alone have taken [2,550 m?] francs in coin out of Rouen.
A thousand kind regards.

Notes

Documentary annotation: 2,471.63 francs received from Mr Villers by Mr [Binière?], for Mr [Brunet?]’s account.
Documentary annotation: [small underlined mark at upper left]
The previous receipt is assigned to a bundle, possibly that for November. The short instruction about Demange breaks off at the end of the written line. The notation of the sum in écus is retained without expanding its uncertain final sign.
