[Bne?] Dupont de laporte
pour la quête en faveur
des Religieuses de
miséricorde.

Letter with marginal calculations - Paris, 20 April 1831

English translation

Paris, 20 April 1831.

I receive your letter of yesterday.
You are returning to me the note relating to the [Brioque?] affair, together with the papers making up its bundle. I shall make the necessary use of it.
I shall try to attend to the proof of the [C.?] d’Epargne [abbreviated designation, apparently concerning savings].
[crossed out: all]
—
I see a [Rte?; abbreviation uncertain] of 4,000 francs for the national loan.
You will follow the instructions in this regard; I only wish notice to be given to the newspapers of Périgueux [“always” crossed out]. Moulainy can confer with the Prefect to find out whether he [crossed-out word and undeciphered crossed-out line] wishes these insertions to be made every day, or whether one notice a week would suffice.
I see your Dispatch No. 51.
According to my brother’s letter, the [arrears?] of the Dordogne form a considerable part of it, [whatever one may do?]. One must allow that the tax collectors in the districts will not [bring?] the funds to the General Receivership until ten, and perhaps fifteen, days later. Besides, there is nothing pressing.
You will see from the accounts that the loan has definitely been concluded at 84 francs. I shall give you the list of individual sums that I find there: namely, 20,000 francs for my own account and 25,000 to 26,000 francs for various parties, whose names I shall send you for the [contracts?]. Entirely yours.

[In the left margin:]
I ask Mr Bourgeois to send a twenty-franc coin to Madame [Bne?; title uncertain] Dupont de Laporte for the collection for the Sisters of Mercy.
