Original transcript

Paris 19 avril 1831.

English translation

Paris, 19 April 1831.

I have received your letter of yesterday.
I shall give you shortly [the?] 1,706 francs difference on the Chaulet account.
Return to me the receipt for 2,443.46 from Mr [d’Haucourt?]. There must be an error: the date is indeed 16 April, but the payment of 12,443.46 of 28 March should be carried forward, which does indeed reduce the account to 80,000 francs. There has been no payment since then.
I see your Dispatch No. 50.
You will doubtless see in the Moniteur that the company which bid for the loan, and of which I was a member under the name of Mr Delaporte, offered a price of 82.10. But the movement made by the 5% yesterday led the Minister to raise his minimum to 84 francs, so that the adjudication has so far come to nothing. We are meeting again; I do not know whether an agreement will be reached.
Farewell, a thousand kind regards.
[paraph]

Documentary annotation: [small underlined mark at upper left]
The receipt amount and larger payment to be carried forward are transcribed separately as written, without arithmetic reconciliation. The initial article and receipt counterparty’s name remain locally uncertain. The loan bid, market movement and minimum are the writer’s report.
