Letter with financial instructions - Paris, 6 April 1831
English translation
Paris, 6 April 1831.
I paid the Syndicate 4,500 francs, comprising 500 francs of half-yearly interest on 1,000 francs of annuities deposited for the [undeciphered designation] of adjudication, and 4,000 in dividends.
How fortunate if all enterprises succeeded like this!
Here is a further deposit:
1,500 francs of annuities at the extraordinary deposit of the 25th: 23,575 [sign];
and to add to it, [Chaulet?] already previously: 74,934.56;
together: 98,509.56.
I deduct from it 60 francs of 3% annuities purchased for 1,257.55, with which you will debit the account of [Count?] Reiset [undeciphered abbreviation and word].
[Crossed-out total]
Remaining [your funds?] at the Syndicate up to this day: 97,252.01.
Here is a letter from Mr [Delap…?] of [Angers?]. Please reply to them in agreement. You have to credit him with 238.30 and 353, and debit him with 10,582, plus 108.
[Side brace: for [Mr J. Reiset?], S.C., previously; for [undeciphered name and designation]]
Please then return the letter and statement. Please also return the six enclosed accounts after Laroche has entered all the articles written since.
The 16,000-franc bill accepted by [Quesney and Bachet?] remained protested. Besides, that firm has written to me and gives me hope of funds coming in shortly.
I receive your letter of yesterday. I am [delighted?] that you have nothing

Henry

with [uncertain name and abbreviation].
I see that [undeciphered name] has been unable to obtain anything from Mr [Bricout?]. Nevertheless I urge him to see Mr Aumont, who is a member of the oversight committee that I had appointed before my departure and which must meet at least once a month to verify these accounts. I believe it is with Mr [Malfilâtre?], Anquetin, [Doffy?] and, I think, Decaze too. I thought I could rely on them.
I have not yet had time to attend to the account of [undeciphered name]. I shall re-examine Moreau’s account.
I thank Mondary for his letter about the 60 m francs [abbreviation retained] Moreau. However, the copy of the resolution of the Depot that I finally receive unfortunately seems to settle the issue in Moreau’s favour. I thought it said only as security for my management, but it also states: and the conditions requested by [his people? / the gentlemen?], which I did not remember, and consequently I fear I may no longer be so well founded in my request. However, I await the Commission’s reply and shall decide accordingly on the further course of my claim.
Entirely yours,
Henry.
