Paris, 28 March 1831.
I send you a letter from Mr [Vorteau?], who handed me 40 francs, which you will debit to petty cash, and who prohibits any new payment until further orders. Please tell Mr Bourgeois that he may have Mr [Meriau?] notified of the suspension of the credit in his favour, so that he does not come needlessly to claim payment on 1 April.
I issue a payment order at sight on the Syndicate for 12,443.46 francs, to the order of the [Sᵒⁿ?] de Normandie. You will make it correspond; it is to be debited to the [Sᵒⁿ?] de [Frémont?] and Mr [N… de L…?].
Here is a letter from Mr [Fitzjames?].
I have received your letter of yesterday. Here is Laroche’s short letter. I leave you free to grant him once again the short leave he requests, if you find that the work will not suffer. I hope that in any case he will have attended to our warehouse business.
I retain [Moulainy’s?] letter concerning [Vannois?] [crossed-out word] to Louis. I see there is a meeting of the Société maternelle on the 30th. This will have to be arranged with Mr [Parrot?].
Here is a reply to Moulainy about Demange. Please acquaint yourself with it and [then?] pass it on, and tell me what effect it has produced.
Entirely yours, [initials].
Notes
Documentary annotation: You will have received the circular concerning the [associations?]. I shall send you the one to be drawn up accordingly for the district receivers. The abbreviated titles and names in the payment instruction remain tentative. A meeting of the Société maternelle is mentioned for the 30th. The words à Louis follow a cancelled word in the preceding instruction.
