Original transcript

Paris 27 mars 1831.

English translation

Paris, 27 March 1831.

I have received your letter of yesterday. You will have seen the payments made by [Chaulet?] in my letter of yesterday. You send me letters that require no replies, but I thank you very much for your [exact?] punctuality.
I see that there is no way of relying on the words of this unfortunate porter, and I am writing to [name not deciphered] to arrange for a suitable replacement. Meanwhile, please remind Mr Bourgeois that he had indeed promised me to have the cash-office boy sleep at my house during my absence. I rely on his care in this respect, subject to giving him the small gratuity I had mentioned to him, of 10 [s?] a day.
I have only a letter from Mr [name undeciphered], [with?] a letter for [name undeciphered]. Entirely yours, [initials].

Notes

A few names, the abbreviation after the daily gratuity and the short connector in the final line remain uncertain and are marked.
