English translation

Paris, 26 March 1831.

I send you a reply to the Discount Office. Please have it copied and sent at once. Ask Mr Serre to let me know whether he has received a reply from the Dordogne since his letter.
Yesterday I sent you a receipt for [Chaulet?] for 38,187.40. I owed him [1,958.60?] in settlement of 5 March. He paid an order of the 17th of that month, [Le Febure?], upholsterer (for furnishings [of Paris or Louis?]), 2,156. Amount of the 2,600 francs [Moreau?] which he sold: 42,302.
Please note that Mr Stabler has authorised Mr [de Me…?] to draw four successive bills on me for 875 francs, due 21 March, 20 June, 20 September and 21 December. He will charge the annual instalments to the firm of Stabler.
Here is a letter for [crossed-out word] [Santoyan?], which must be sent to him after copying.
I have received your letter of yesterday. You have seen that the Syndicate received the 57,000 francs. Debit the [Bapaume?] farm account with 1050 francs.
I return Vannier’s letter. Ask Laroche to go to Messrs [Gervais?] and Company at the Exchange tomorrow and arrange payment for storage of their goods. If they undertake to pay the dues personally on all the rents for the goods received for Vannier, that is sufficient. But [crossed-out word] [he will see?] on the spot whether anything is still held in Vannier’s name. He will then arrange with Vannier to be paid for it immediately.
I shall reply to Mondary later. Further friendly wishes, [initial H?].

Notes

The upholsterer’s charge concerns furnishings. The following name is uncertain. The settlement entry appears to be 1,958.60, which agrees with the written total of 42,302.
