English translation

Paris, 25 March 1831.

Here is a receipt for 38,187.40 in favour of [Chaulet?]. Send cards to Madame Martin, the Deputy’s widow; here they are.
I have received your letter of the 24th. I return some papers. On the 29th [inserted: morning], Mr Bourgeois will send Madame la Baronne [D.D.?] a note containing a twenty-franc coin and reading: Mr Reiset, absent from Rouen, asks Madame la Baronne [D.D.?] to receive his offering for the charitable gathering for which she is kindly collecting donations.
Here are the items the bank rejected: two foreign coins from the consignment for which the Syndicate’s letter credits me today, and one from the consignment for which I shall notify you of the credit tomorrow.
I approve and am sending your letter to Mr [Jeune?]. Since you have so much cash on hand, you might well tell Mr André that I can pay straight away.
I shall reply to Mr Moulainy, but tell him that the law on [taxes?] has not yet appeared.
There is much discussion of loans. A thousand friendly wishes, [initials].

Notes

Two foreign coins were rejected from one consignment and one from another. The title of the law and the baroness’s initials remain uncertain.
