Paris, 31 March 1831
Please credit Mr Paul, if he has not already been credited, with:
1,071.35 francs, and
80 francs, Dep. G[?].
Total: 1,151.35 francs, supporting documents enclosed. Debit him with:
640 francs, interest at 4% for 1830 on the 16,000 francs that he [owed me?].
Balance: 511.35 francs, which he will probably draw on. Having obtained his retirement, he is to receive his security deposit back, out of which he will settle with me.
A Mr Gries[?] signed an instrument [deleted: bill; added above: instrument] for 150 francs due on 31 March. I sent it to you on 18 March. He asks for time until 4 April to pay. Tell me to whom and on what day this bill was sent. The 160 francs taken by [Vorteau?] are to be charged to Louis Reiset.
Please notify [Mr G.?] to hand him a payment order for 6,000, which I draw on him for 10 April to the order of Aimé [Mauraud?]. Send him an order on the Syndicate with a one-month allowance to cover him. As to the 1,000 francs, debit the account of [Mr?] Blanchard senior for 600 francs, and bills and obligations for the 400. See the four bills for that amount.
Does the account of [Louis?] [Mauraud?] senior not show debits of 4,157.60 and credits of 6,448.50? In that case, credit him with a further 59.10 in interest. The balance will be 2,350. Total: 6,507.60.
Is there anything else in [Mauraud?] junior’s account besides the balance of [mark] 7,500 francs?
Here is a letter [from Mr de?] [Roche?] Delesque[?]. Send it back to me.

I have received your letter of yesterday with 158,981.74 francs in 28 [payment orders?] and more than 16,000 on two [instruments?] that will probably be protested.
Of course, I shall not wait for a settlement of the Moreau account for the interest, but I shall for the principal and expenses. I am examining the [deleted: other] entries. As I have to settle the Strasbourg matter while awaiting the Rouen one, and [word deleted], I should like to give him a fresh statement and include all expenses incurred since then.
I have Mr Moulainy’s letter. It is unnecessary to go and speak to the Prefect again about the tax-collection offices.
Entirely yours, [initials].
